Pelé is a former Brazilian professional footballer who played forward. Pelé joined Santos at the age of 15 and the Brazil national team at the age of 16.
Pelé was given the nickname “Pelé” in school because of his mispronunciation of the name of his favorite player, local Vasco da Gama goalkeeper Bilé, which he misspoke but the more he complained, the more it stuck.
What illness has Pele got?
Pelé had a colon tumor removed in September 2021.
In June 2013, Pelé was chastised in the media for his conservative views. During the 2013 Brazilian protests, Pelé urged people to “forget the demonstrations” and support the Brazilian national team. Pelé published an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin on his Instagram account on June 1, 2022, in which he made a public plea to stop the “evil” and “unjustified” Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Pelé, who is a practicing Catholic, gave Pope Francis a signed jersey. It is housed in one of the Vatican Museums, along with a signed football by Ronaldo.
