You’ve probably heard of the man in Ohio known as the “homeless man with the golden voice.” Ted Williams, 53, had been homeless for a decade owing to drug and alcohol problems. Continue reading to discover what happened to the media personality.
What happened to Ted Williams’s The Golden Voice?
He is now two years sober but has yet to break free from the cycle of homelessness. That is until a Columbus Dispatch cameraman captured Ted speaking in his radio voice while begging for money on an Ohio highway while holding a placard proclaiming his “radio voice” as a God-given ability.
Prior to his demise, Ted had worked in radio. The video went popular on YouTube, receiving over 11 million views.
As a result, Ted began to receive job offers. During an interview on NBC’s Today Show, he expressed gratitude for being given a second chance. Most importantly, he declared that his life will be different now because “this time I have God.” After a decade apart, he was also reunited with his 90-year-old mother.

As President and CEO of the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM), I witness a wide range of amazing potential in the people that come through our programs. Among our clients are musicians, singers, writers, artists, and many others.
