Eight concert-goers have reportedly passed away while several others are injured at last Friday’s Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas.

Headlined by Travis Scott, the sold-out concert which was held at the NRG Park in Houston, Texas, on Friday night (November 6) was marred by tragedy.

According to Samuel Peña, Chief of Houston Fire Department, who confirmed the casualties, it was “a tragic night” for Houston.

How many people attended Astroworld Festival?

Samuel Peña said an estimated 50,000 people thronged the NRG Park in Houston to witness the concert. It was a sold-out event – which means all tickets for the event were sold.

What caused the deaths at Astroworld Festival?

According to Peña, the trouble started around 9 p.m. He said the crowd began to compress toward the front of the stage. Chaos and stampede broke out and as a result, it caused some panic and started causing some injuries.

He said attendees began to fall out and become unconscious and that created additional panic.

So far, eight (8) people have been recorded dead. Also, more than 300 people are injured during a mass stampede.

What has Travis Scott said about the incident at Astroworld Festival?

The Houston-native rapper is yet to utter a word about the incident. The last post on his social media pages is the poster for the event. Many Instagram users have flooded his last Instagram post about the death casualties the happened at the event.
