What ethnicity is Kat Dahlia?

The Cuban-American musician belongs to a mixed ethnicity. Kat Dahlia was born Katriana Sandra Huguet on July 29, 1990, in Miami Beach, Florida, to a Cuban mother and a Lebanese-Cuban father.

She began rapping at the age of eight and writing songs at the age of fifteen, using YouTube instrumentals in place of a band.  At the age of 18, Dahlia chose to leave Miami after saving money from waitressing jobs, and traveled to New York City a month later “on a whim.”

Dahlia then entered into what she characterizes as a “toxic relationship,” which she subsequently grew to see as a source of inspiration and “writer’s gold.” She kept the name Kat Dahlia as her stage name after her producer recommended it to her.
