She attended the Notre Dame High School in Elmira, where she graduated in three years. During her time in high school, she interned at the Chemung County District Attorney’s office.

After her graduation, she attended the University at Buffalo. There, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Afterward, she received her J.D. degree at Albany Law School of Union University in 1975
