Journalist Ilia Calderón Chamat was born in Colombia in 1972. Calderón, who was raised in Chocó, currently co-anchors Univision’s evening national newscast alongside Jorge Ramos. She also serves as the host of the weekly news program Aqu y Ahora on Univision.
At Universidad de Antioquia, she studied social work as her major. She first hosted a number of news programs on the local station Teleantioquia. She appeared on national television in 1998 for Noticiero CM&. Three years later, she joined Telemundo where she anchored a section of the now-defunct morning program Cada Da con Mara Antonieta and the weekend edition of Noticiero Telemundo.
She had a successful operation to remove a tumor from her uterus in 2005.
