Born on October 15, 1970, Elgin Baylor Lumpkin is an American R&B singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor better known by his stage name Ginuwine. He began his career when he joined Swing Mob in the early 1990s.

In the middle of the 1990s, Ginuwine signed with Epic Records as a solo artist. Since then, he has put out a number of albums and songs that have sold platinum and multi-platinum copies, propelling him to the top of the R&B music industry in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

“Same Ol’ G,” “So Anxious,” and “None of Ur Friends Business” were among the best songs on his second album, 100% Ginuwine. Following 100% Ginuwine, Timbaland and Ginuwine fell out.

Since then, producers like R. Kelly have written singles specifically for him. The song “Differences,” which Ginuwine released in 2001, debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.

Within a year, Ginuwine lost both of his parents. His third album, The Life, contains the song “Two Reasons I Cry,” which he later wrote and recorded. He was a featured artist on P. Diddy’s 2002 hit track “I Need a Girl (Part II),” which peaked at number one.
