Stacey Abrams is a politician, lawyer, author, and activist from Georgia who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2006 to 2017.

Abrams  schooled at Avondale High School. She later earned a Master of Public Affairs in public policy from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin, as well as a J.D. from Yale Law School.

She was the first woman to lead any party in Georgia’s General Assembly in 2010, a post she kept for the following seven years.

Following her losing run for Georgia governor in 2018, she founded Fair Fight, an organization that helped register at least 800,000 new voters in Georgia ahead of the 2020 election.

In addition to her political career, she has written eight romantic suspense novels under the pen name Selena Montgomery.

She now serves on the boards of the Lyndon B. Johnson Foundation, the Marguerite Casey Foundation, the Center for American Progress, and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association.

Throughout her career, Abrams has formed several organizations dedicated to voting rights, educating and hiring young people of color, and addressing social concerns on a state and national level.
