Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt, Rachel Stevens, and Paul Cattermole formed the English pop group S Club 7 in London. The group was created in 1998 and rose to prominence with their BBC television series Miami 7.

S Club 7 had four UK number-one singles, a UK number-one album, a string of hits across Europe, and a top-10 smash on the US Hot 100 with their 2000 single “Never Had a Dream Come True” within five years. They released four studio albums, and 11 singles, and sold over ten million albums worldwide.

What does S in S Club 7 stand for?

Although the official line has always been uncertain, several members of the group have stated that the “S” in S Club 7 refers to Simon, after the club’s inventor. According to the group’s article on the Popjustice website, they were almost called “Sugar Club” instead of the moniker that stuck.

Another suggestion is that the group was named after the letter “S” in the word “seven.”
In a December 2012 interview, McIntosh stated that a large part of Fuller’s success has been centered on the number 19 (controlling 19 Entertainment); so, because “S” is the 19th letter of the alphabet, the “S” was included in S Club 7.
