Following a performance at a nightclub on the renowned Sunset Strip on Thursday, rapper Tyler, The Creator was detained on suspicion of felony vandalism, according to police.

The Roxy Theater’s security staff called the police after an electric soundboard that the rapper, 20, whose real name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, was performing with on Thursday night was damaged.

A fan’s amateur crowd video captured the rapper kicking stage props before departing the venue, while footage from the celebrity showbiz website TMZ.com showed the rapper laughing while riding in the back of a police cruiser.

The rapper was detained in front of his mother, according to TMZ.

Tyler, The Creator, who won best new artist at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, however, turned to Twitter on Friday to refute the claims, writing, “I Wasn’t In No Jail Or Arrested Or Nothing,” before sharing a video of a rowdy audience storming the stage at the Roxy concert.
