Clarence Thomas is the United States Supreme Court’s second African American justice.

He was born in Pin Point, Georgia with his older sister Emma Mae and younger brother Myers Lee in a tiny neighborhood.

His mother, who was struggling financially, left him and his brother to live with her father and stepmother in neighboring Savannah.

He later got the chance to attend the Yale Law School and everything took of from there.

Thomas is a firmly conservative justice who rejects more liberal standards such as affirmative action and homosexual marriage.

What did Clarence Thomas do before the Supreme Court?

He held numerous positions in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush until being infamously elected in 1991 by President Bush.

Despite being accused of sexual harassment in public hearings by lawyer Anita Hill, Clarence prevailed.

Since the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, the known conservative has been occupying that position.

He was recently hospitalized for contracting an infection.
