By reaching a personal terms agreement with the defender from Leicester, Chelsea has made a significant step toward acquiring Wesley Fofana.
Although the Foxes look to be softening their stance and would accept a sum in the neighborhood of £80 million, the Blues have already had two proposals for the Frenchman rejected.
As Brendan Rodgers’ team gets ready to play Arsenal at Emirates Stadium this afternoon, Fofana is anticipated to play.
At least publicly, Leicester maintains that the player is not for sale. According to Rodgers, Fofana would benefit more from staying put for at least another season.
In response to a question on offers for Fofana, Rodgers said: “There were two, but neither came close to what the club would accept.”
Rodgers stated that Fofana is focused on life at Leicester despite rumors that the France Under-21 international is eager to join Chelsea.
Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Marcos Alonso have left the defense, and Thomas Tuchel has spent a significant amount of the offseason replacing them.
Marcos Alonso is also about to leave the team.
