Wendee Lee is an American voice actress, writer, and director. Lee studied dance and theater before becoming a full-time dancer in her teens. According to her interview on the Magic Knight Rayearth DVDs, she began doing voices in school and got in trouble for it.
Her first anime voice role was in the 1980s Harmony Gold production Robotech, where she played Vanessa Leeds, one of the operators aboard the SDF-1 Macross. She also collaborated with Streamline on several anime productions, including Dragon Ball. She would continue to dance and work part-time as a make-up artist, choreographer, and dance instructor.
Major anime roles performed by Lee include Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, Myjin Yahiko in Rurouni Kenshin, Takeru “T.K.” Takaishi in Digimon Adventure, and Konata Izumi in Lucky Star. She has also served as a casting director for The Night Before Christmas and an ADR director for Bleach, Love Hina, and Outlaw Star. In the Viz Media re-dub of the original Sailor Moon series and the new Sailor Moon Crystal series in 2014–2015, she provided the voice of Queen Serenity.
