The five-day event will be held at the renovated University of Ghana stadium, with over 2000 student-athletes from over 40 senior high schools, including St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, Opoku Ware Senior High School, and Mawuli Senior High School, all set to compete.
The NISAC aims to increase the popularity of athletics and expand the country’s talent pool. In an interview with Citi Sports, Dr. Bello-Bitugu endorsed the initiative and advocated for its continuation in future seasons.
Citi TV has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ghana Athletics to promote the competition, which also aims to raise awareness of the 13th African Games, which will be held in Ghana in March.
Bawa Fuseini, President of Ghana Athletics, is confident that the University of Ghana’s renovations will be completed in time to host the games on February 24.
Other notable schools from various regions set to compete in the inaugural edition of NISAC include St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, Odorgonno Senior High School, Tema Secondary School, and Ghana Senior High School.
