Health Minister-designate, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has reassured Ghanaians of the government’s unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare across the country. During a visit to the Tema General Hospital, Dr. Okoe Boye emphasized the government’s track record of fulfilling its promises since taking office in 2017.
“We pledged to create a Society of opportunities for all, and we remain steadfast in this pledge,” Dr. Okoe Boye affirmed. “With the grace of God, we have closely monitored this commitment and excelled in various sectors of our economy, including the Health Sector.”
Dr. Okoe Boye also inspected the ongoing projects at the hospital, such as the construction and equipping of the 400-bed Tema General Hospital. This project is being funded through a government-acquired financial facility of 140 million Euros and will benefit not only Tema but also other healthcare initiatives in Nkoranza, Dormaa Hospital, and the Central Medical Stores at Tema.
The completion of these projects is expected to alleviate the strain on major healthcare facilities like Ridge Hospital and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Dr. Okoe Boye highlighted that improving infrastructure at the Tema General Hospital will significantly ease the burden on existing healthcare institutions.
The scope of the Tema General Hospital project includes outpatient and inpatient departments, maternity and neonatal services, surgery theaters, accident and emergency department, public health department, pharmacy unit, laboratory, administration, imaging area, physiotherapy, and mortuary.
Dr. Okoe Boye expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in achieving these healthcare aspirations, emphasizing the importance of their prayers, dedication, and support in realizing the vision of accessible and quality healthcare for all.
