Lord Paul Yaw Boateng, a member of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom, recently emphasized the importance of good leadership as Ghana navigates through today’s complex world. During the UPSA 2024 Annual Leadership Lecture, he highlighted the critical role of leadership in addressing the economic and social challenges faced globally.
In his address, Lord Boateng pointed out the need for Ghanaians to embrace values of excellence and professionalism in leadership. He noted the prevailing crisis of conflicts, competence, and trust in institutions, stressing the importance of standing up for these values in service delivery.
Moreover, Lord Boateng drew attention to the significance of addressing water and sanitation issues to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He emphasized that providing clean water and sanitation directly contributes to meeting multiple SDGs, particularly SDG 3, which focuses on good health and well-being.
The renowned diplomat and lawyer emphasized the interconnectedness of water and sanitation with human biology and health, underscoring the practical challenges and consequences of inadequate access to clean water. By investing in sustainable water and sanitation solutions, Ghana can make significant strides towards achieving the SDGs and improving the overall well-being of its population.
