“We had a better game against Egypt”- Dennis Odoi confident ahead of Mozambique clash

Denis Odoi, Ghana’s defender, has warned his teammates not to repeat mistakes when they face Mozambique at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana face the bottom-placed team in Group B in their final game, hoping to keep their chances of progressing to the knockout stages alive.

Mistakes in the Black Stars’ first two games have resulted in just one point with one group game remaining.

Miscommunication during the nack against Cape Verde resulted in a late collapse and loss. At the same time, individual errors by Inaki Williams and Osman Bukari contributed to the team’s draw against Egypt.

Odoi has cautioned the team to remain mentally focused on the game at all times before the match against Mozambique.

“We win and lose together; if we lose, we do not lose as individuals. It’s not because of the pressure, in my opinion. You make certain errors at this level,” the right-back remarked.

“In the upcoming game, we have to try and avoid the small mistakes and be very ready and focused throughout the game.”

The team led by Chris Hughton is optimistic that a victory on Monday, January 22, will be sufficient to advance them to the round of 16.
