Isaac Adongo recently accused Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in a parliamentary session in Accra.
Adongo who is a politician from Ghana serves as a representative for the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region’s Bolgatanga Central Constituency in the 8th Ghanaian Parliament.
Speaking passionately about the current, the member of parliament for Bolgatanga East asked for a secret vote to choose the Finance Minister during his speech on the floor of Parliament.
On December 8, 2022, the confrontational MP remarked, “We voted for you, and we are saying we don’t want you anymore. It is not by force to serve us, just go.”
The evidence against Mr. Ofori-Atta, he said, is beyond a reasonable doubt, and Parliament must act honorably by ousting the Finance Minister.
Adongo was originally chosen in 2016 and then again in 2020.
Although Mr. Ofori-Atta was cleared of several charges brought against him, in his opinion, the information uncovered during the committee hearing is sufficient to result in the Minister’s dismissal.
K.T. Hammond, one of the committee’s co-chairmen, disagreed with his colleague and insisted that the Finance Minister was not the subject of any conclusions or recommendations.
