Andre Dede Ayew, the captain of the Blackstars, apologized on behalf of the team for disappointing Ghanaians following their terrible performance at the AFCON 2023 games.

Ghana’s withdrawal from the competition on Tuesday was disheartening, as the outcomes of other groups did not benefit them. The team’s performance in Group B earned them only two points, drawing with Egypt and Mozambique but losing to Cape Verde in their opening encounter.

Despite their efforts, Ghana was eventually eliminated from the competition, ending their campaign with a mix of draws and defeats in the group round.

Dede recently tweeted, saying, “On behalf of my teammates, I want to sincerely apologize to the people of Ghana.

“We are sorry for not performing well. All we have ever wanted is to serve our country with our gifts. We will surely come back better.

“Once again, I am truly sorry for my actions and the consequences they brought. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me and give me another chance to prove myself as a dedicated and responsible teammate.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.”
