The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko, has expressed full confidence in the newly appointed CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), assuring him of the region’s support for his success.
During a courtesy call from GNPC boss Joseph Dadzie and his management team in Takoradi, the Minister reiterated his commitment to ensuring the CEO’s success in his new role.
Joseph Dadzie officially assumed office on 2nd May, taking over from his predecessor Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah. The visit to the Minister was to introduce himself and his team to the Western Regional Coordinating Council.
Minister Darko emphasized the crucial role GNPC plays in the country’s governance, highlighting the Corporation’s significance in the region’s development. He urged Dadzie to focus on completing stalled developmental projects to benefit the region.
As President Nana Akufo-Addo prepares to commission the modern Operational Headquarters of the National Oil Company in Takoradi, the Minister suggested recruiting new staff mainly from the Western Region to enhance local representation and foster community support.
In response, Dadzie expressed gratitude for the Minister’s support in securing the land for the Corporation’s operational headquarters. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts that led to the completion of the state-of-the-art facility.
The CEO also sought the Minister’s counsel on improving operations and assured him that the board is addressing stalled projects and prioritizing employment opportunities for indigenes in the region.
Overall, the meeting between the GNPC CEO and the Regional Minister showcased a collaborative approach to driving sustainable development and advancing the Corporation’s mandate in the Western Region.
