Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiko popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has appeared before the Kumasi Traditional Council.
Though Chairman Wontumi has denied the accusations, he was invited by the traditional council for a hearing, an invitation he failed to honor on health grounds.
Meanwhile, Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah is before the Traditional Council as a witness to what transpired during the vetting.
An invitation letter signed by the Registrar of the Council, Kwame Adusei Agyemang, inviting Nananom to reconvene for the meeting read in part, ”Greetings Nananom, this is to respectfully inform you of the Kumasi Traditional Council’s sitting scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. prompt. Despite failing to honor Nananom’s invitation on health grounds, Mr. Antwi Boasiako was spotted in the Bantama Constituency during the NPP’s Parliamentary Primaries on Saturday, January 27, 2024, where he told journalists he was healthy.
Acting President Bantamahene, Baffuor Owusu Amankwatiah VI, is expected to hold the fort for the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who missed the last meeting.
