Van Morrison born George Ivan Morrison on August 31, 1945, is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
His recording career spans seven decades, and he has two Grammy Awards to his name.
Was Van Morrison’s mother a Jehovah’s Witness?
Morrison’s parents were raised as Protestants but they became liberal when it came to religion when they became adults.
His mother did not specifically get baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness but she took interest in their teachings and way of life and attended a few congregation meetings.
The award-winning singer’s father also declared suddenly that he was an atheist. Morrisson also came out to say that he was a Scientologist in the 80s.
He rescinded his decision later on stating that “I wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
“Spirituality is one thing, religion … can mean anything from soup to nuts, you know? But it generally means an organization, so I don’t really like to use the word, because that’s what it really means. It really means this church or that church … but spirituality is different because that’s the individual,” he added.
