Van Conner is an American rock musician who was born on March 17, 1967. He is best known as the bassist for Screaming Trees.

Conner, along with his brother Gary Lee Conner and Mark Pickerel, started the band Explosive Generation while he was a high school bass player. When singer Mark Lanegan joined that band in 1985, it became Screaming Trees. In the late 1980s, the band relocated to Seattle from their hometown of Ellensburg, Washington, in order to participate in the burgeoning alternative rock scene in that city. Before the Screaming Trees split up in 2000, Conner appeared on seven studio albums.

Conner started the side project Solomon Grundy, in which he sang lead vocals and played guitar, while he was a member of Screaming Trees. Conner also joined Dinosaur Jr.’s live lineup in 1990, when that band released an album. He later started another side project called Gardener, which released an album in 1999. Conner worked as a session musician after Screaming Trees disbanded, and he also started VALIS and Musk Ox, two more alternative rock bands.
