American boxing official, a fighter in the professional ranks, two-term Washoe County, Nevada, District Court judge, and television personality Mills Bee Lane III.

On November 12, 1937, he was born. Lane was conceived on November 12, 1937, in Savannah, Georgia. The largest bank in Georgia was founded by his grandfather, and the head of Citizens & Southern National Bank was his uncle (and namesake). He was descended from a prominent family in Georgia.

Lane played linebacker in American football and goalkeeper in ice hockey at Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts. In 1956, Lane joined the US Marine Corps, and he was discharged in 1959.

In the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Lane was best known for his work as Judge Mills Lane on the syndicated court show and as the referee of numerous important heavyweight championship boxing contests. Lane was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 9, 2013. The next month, on August 10, Lane was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. On December 6, 2022, Lane passed away in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 85.
