Marilyn Monroe was an American model, actress, and singer who was undoubtedly one of the 20 century’s most renowned women.
However her strong public appearance, she battled with relationships and resorted to extensive drug usage, both of which were detrimental to her mental and physical health.
Monroe lived the American dream in one sense, rising from obscurity to become a renowned actress, but it was a dream tinged with misery since recognition did not offer peace of mind or happiness.
Who was Marilyn Monroe?
Monroe was born in June 1926 as Norma Jeane Mortenson. Gladys Pearl Baker was her mother. Her father was never identified, and she was christened Norma Jeane Baker.
Gladys’ mother suffered from bipolar disorder and struggled to raise her children. Marilyn was raised by foster parents Albert and Ida Bolender in Hawthorne, California, for the first six years of her life.
Her mother then attempted to reclaim Marilyn, but she had a mental breakdown, and Marilyn was relocated between orphanages and foster homes. She became timid and reclusive as a result of her difficult childhood.
Was Marilyn Monroe known for having poor personal hygiene?
Monroe’s personal cleanliness, unlike her, had a lot to be desired, according to a number of her past boyfriends and servants. In fact, Monroe was supposedly so careless with her personal hygiene that several of her maids departed because they were tired of cleaning up after her.
One of Monroe’s former housekeepers, Lena Pepitone, said the superstar would regularly lie around the house in soiled clothing, with vast stacks of dirty dishes placed next to her bed.
To be honest, that doesn’t seem all that unlike to how we spend our leisure time, and we’re sure Monroe looked a lot better doing it.
But here’s the thing: Monroe’s hygiene was allegedly so terrible that some of her ex-lovers stated it almost turned them off dating her at all.
Monroe however became a symbol of celebrity and female beauty. She is largely considered as one of America’s most significant cultural leaders.
