Joe Strummer, whose real name was John Graham Mellor, was a British singer, songwriter, and musician who was born on August 21, 1952, and passed away on December 22, 2002.

He was a co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist, and co-lead vocalist of the punk band the Clash, which was formed in 1976. The Clash’s second album, Give ‘Em Enough Rope, reached its UK chart apex at No. 2 in 1978.

They quickly achieved popularity in the US with the publication of London Calling in 1979 and Combat Rock in 1982, which reached No. 7 on the US charts and received a 2-platinum certification.

Strummer agreed to marry South African citizen Pamela Moolman for £100 (the equivalent of £1,100 in 2021) before the British Nationality Act of 1981 went into effect.

She underwent this procedure in order to obtain British citizenship. With the money, he acquired his signature Fender Telecaster. In 1978, a few months after Gaby Salter turned 17, he started dating her.
