Jeffrey Dahmer, one of America’s most known serial killers, was born and reared in Bath Township, Ohio, a middle-class suburb of Akron.
Much has been made of his childhood inclinations, including episodes of animal abuse, yet from the outside, he appeared to be a typical child. As an adult, he was always gainfully employed and was viewed by coworkers as quiet and pleasant. He was working at a chocolate factory in Milwaukee and lived alone in a small one-bedroom apartment when he was arrested. On July 22, 1991, a young guy exited his flat and flagged down a police cruiser, prompting a search of Dahmer’s home.
The apartment contained the remains of 11 young males, most of them were black, Hispanic, or Asian, according to an inquiry. The bodies had been dismembered, and Dahmer admitted to cooking and eating some of the remains. When investigators asked him why he committed such horrible deeds, Dahmer stated that he was killed because he was “lonely” and did not want his victims to leave him. He claimed that he would meet potential victims in pubs, shopping malls, or adult bookstores and invite them back to his flat, where he would photograph them naked in exchange for money or beer. He would then drug the drink and strangle and dismember the victim once they were unconscious. Dahmer’s victims varied in age from 14 to 33. Dahmer was convicted guilty of 15 charges of murder in Wisconsin on February 15, 1992. He was later convicted of another murder in his hometown of Ohio.
