Wanda Jackson was born in Maud, Oklahoma, in October 1937. It has been said of Jackson that she is the First Lady or Queen of Rockabilly. As one of the first female rockabilly singers in the 1950s and 1960s, she achieved fame as a pioneering rock and roll performer.

She gained notoriety for blending rockabilly with country music, and as rockabilly lost favor, she turned her focus to mainstream country music.

Her self-titled debut studio album was released by Capitol Records in 1958. Jackson released a total of 45 studio albums.

Her Top 10 hits were “You Can’t Have My Love,” “Right or Wrong,” “In the Middle of a Heartache,” and “Santo Domingo.”

Her other hit songs included “Tears Will Be the Chaser for Your Wine,” “A Woman Lives for Love,” and “Fancy Satin Pillows.” The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted Wanda Jackson’s Early Influence in 2009.
