Walter Stefaan Karel van den Broeck was a prominent Belgian writer and playwright. Initially trained as a teacher in Dutch and History, he embarked on his professional journey in education. Broeck co-founded the magazine Heibel alongside Frans Depeuter and Robin Hannelore in 1965.
Leaving the teaching field, he assumed the role of chief editor at Turnhout Ekspres in 1974 and subsequently contributed to the editorial team of the Nieuw Vlaams Tijdschrift from 1979 onwards.
