Walter Stewart Karel van den Broeck began his teaching career after receiving his degree in History (Lier) and Dutch.
Together with Frans Depeuter [nl] and Robin Hannelore [nl], he started the magazine Heibel in 1965. He left his position as a teacher in 1974 to take on the role of chief editor at Turnhout Ekspres. He then joined the editorial board of the Nieuw Vlaams Tijdschrift in 1979.
His plays Groenten uit Balen and Brief aan Boudewijn, which were followed by the tetralogy Het beleg van Laken, brought him fame.
He authored the script for Reinhart’s comic book in 2010.
