On November 30, 1970, Walter Emanuel Jones, an American actor, dancer, and martial artist, was born. On the well-liked television program Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he is most recognized for his role as Zack Taylor, the first Black Ranger.
Jones played Zack Taylor, the first “Black Power Ranger,” in the Power Rangers TV show. Halfway through the second season, he was written off the show due to a pay and contract dispute, and Johnny Yong Bosch replaced him as the Black Ranger.
In the episode “Dream Battle” of the Power Rangers Lost Galaxy season from 1999, Jones provided the voice of Hexuba’s Nightmare Monster. Additionally, he appeared in the episode “Forever Red” of Power Rangers: Wild Force (2002).
Jones was the first actor to perform voice acting for any character other than a Ranger (most often for monsters or villains) on a Power Rangers program after portraying a Ranger himself. Archie Kao, Catherine Sutherland, Jason Faunt, Valerie Vernon, Sean Cw Johnson, and Johnny Yong Bosch, all former Rangers who now work as voice actors, came after Jones.
