The Electoral Commission (EC) has reassured Ghanaians that the 2024 Voters Register is both robust and credible.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Commission debunked claims suggesting that the voter register is not suitable for the upcoming elections.

Amidst concerns raised by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, regarding the integrity of the voters register, the EC made it clear that the register is fit for purpose for the 2024 elections.

Mr. Mahama criticized the EC for allegedly failing to ensure a credible voters’ register for the upcoming elections during his visit to the Greater Accra Region’s Amasaman Constituency.

During his visit, Mahama urged the EC to address the “numerous anomalies” in the register and warned of potential confusion and electoral process undermining on Election Day if the issues are not resolved.

The NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr. Omane Boamah, also echoed these concerns and called for a forensic audit or a thorough parliamentary investigation to address what he termed as “incurably defective anomalies” in the register to prevent compromising the election’s integrity.
