Voiceover artist Mark Dodson, known for ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Gremlins’, passes away at age 64

Voice actor Mark Dodson, known for his iconic voice characterizations in films such as “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” and “Gremlins,” has passed away at the age of 64.

According to his daughter, Dodson tragically suffered a massive heart attack while sleeping in a hotel in Evansville, Indiana, where he was attending Horror Con.

Dodson’s most famous role was as the voice of Salacious Crumb in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” a character who served as a sidekick to Jabba the Hutt. His unique voice also landed him the role of Mogwai in “Gremlins,” a performance that became widely recognized and imitated.

Throughout his career, Dodson worked extensively as a voice artist in various mediums, including film, video games, radio, and commercials.

His daughter, Ciara, expressed her pride in her father, stating that he “never ceased making me proud.”

The Evansville Horror Con, where Dodson was set to make an appearance, paid tribute to him on Facebook, describing him as a talented voice actor and a beloved member of the horror community. They encouraged fans to remember the joy and laughter that Dodson brought into the world, emphasizing that his legacy will endure through his work.
