MTN and Vodafone Ghana have taken a bold step and significant stride in boosting financial inclusion in Ghana by facilitating interoperability services.
The new service, which went live on March 1, 2023, enables MTN Mobile Money and Vodafone Cash customers to pay for goods and services at any MTN Mobile Money or Vodafone Cash-enabled merchant point across the country.
The move marks a major milestone in promoting financial inclusion, as both companies and the Government of Ghana work hand in hand towards creating an enabling environment for all citizens.
The service is available to all Vodafone Cash and MTN Mobile Money customers, and its introduction will undoubtedly bring about greater convenience and accessibility for users.
In line with the MTN Group Ambition of developing the largest financial services platform in Africa, Shaibu Haruna, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of MML, expressed his commitment to building an all-inclusive payment ecosystem.
This move towards interoperability serves as a significant first step and paves the way for other players to leverage the distribution network and offer their services to customers.
