Former WWE star, Virgil, also known as Michale Jones passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 61.
Virgil’s Cause of Death
Virgil’s death news was first confirmed by his friend and wrestling referee, Mark Charles III, who wrote on his Instagram, “It is with great sorrow that I bring news from the Jones family of the passing of our beloved Michael Jones, whom we know and loved as Virgil, Vincent, Soul Train Jones, and more. Virgil passed peacefully at the hospital this morning and I ask that you pray for him and his family. May his memory be eternal.”
Virgil’s cause is death is believed to have been strokes which he suffered two times in 2022.

Virgil attended Virginia Union University and played as a defensive back for the college football team. He wrestled as an amateur.
Virgil later worked at his uncle’s loading and moving company and began entering bodybuilding competitions. After a chance meeting with Tony Atlas in a Pittsburgh gym; Atlas recommended Jones to Pro Wrestling in 1985. In the same year, he began training with Afa of the Wild Samoans.
