Aside from being the exceptional star we know today, Viola Davis has had a tremendous journey to stardom.

After graduating from Central Falls High School.

She attended Rhode Island College after finishing high school, where she earned a degree in drama in 1988.

Davis then continued her education for four years (1989–1993) at the Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York City.

Davis made her Broadway appearance in August Wilson’s melancholy comedy Seven Guitars in 1996, portraying Vera.

Davis collaborated with Wilson again a few years later in his 2001 play King Hedley II, for which she received her first Tony Award and Drama Desk Award.

Davis also received another Drama Desk Award in 2004 for her work on the off-Broadway production of Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel.

Since then, her career has skyrocketed playing numerous roles.

Out of Sight, Solaris, Traffic, and Syriana are among Davis’s films. She recently slammed critics after portraying Michelle Obama in a new film.
