Dulcie Boateng, whom some social media users have dubbed the “Queen of Snapchat,” has revealed the events leading up to her parents’ divorce.

Dulcie Boateng, who was born in Asylum Down in 1997, revealed that her mother, who is from Aburi, had problems with her father, who is from Brong Ahafo.

She would not specify the nature of the problem, but it was a major factor in the unease that existed between her and her parents.

In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on The Delay Show, which aired on March 9, 2024, Dulcie said, “They divorced when I made money because I moved my mother out of the house.”

She claims that after she became financially independent, she moved from Asylum Down to Agbogba, two Accra suburbs. Her mother joined her in light of the situation and never returned to her husband.

“I rented, my mum was coming in to check on us [myself and my little brother] at Agbogba,” said Dulcie. “My dad and I were having problems… She came to me after I got back from Singapore and never went back to my father at Asylum Down.”

According to Dulcie, she began earning money in 2017. She said that everything began after her sister passed away.

“I was very broken and depressed after my sister passed away. I was itching to leave the house. To avoid boredom and to divert my attention for a little while, I wanted to do anything,” she remarked.

“I expressed my wish to sell to my brother. Selling was a coping strategy for me; I didn’t start out selling for money, but rather to divert my attention from my sister. I sold pretty much everything I got my hands on.

“My first ten thousand cedis wasn’t a breakthrough… I had never before seen cash up to two thousand cedis. I sold tops, sunglasses, purses, shoes, and bags on Snapchat, and that’s how I got my first 10,000 cedis,” Dulcie continued.

Dulcie, a self-sufficient lady now who has seen both happiness and adversity, thinks that material wealth is just a cover for true happiness.

For me, being impoverished meant not being able to purchase the necessities of life. Happy in riches is what wealth is. I don’t think it’s rich if you have the money and you’re not happy,” she remarked.

“After everything I’ve gone through, I’m not sure if I can ever be happy without money at this point because the things I like to do require money. I don’t think I would be as happy without money, but I know how to be comfortable “she.
