Former NFL player turn Youtuber, Shannon Sharpe says he made more money from his Katt Williams interview than in any year he featured in the National Football League.

Early in January, Sharpe published a candid conversation with comic Katt Williams on his podcast Club Shay Shay. In the two months after its debut, the episode has received over 61 million views on YouTube alone, proving to be a huge hit.

The figure of 61 million is so enormous that it nearly defies belief. That only applies to YouTube. We may be talking about well over 100 million views and streams of this conversation if we include the streaming data from Apple and Spotify. It makes sense why Sharpe’s cheque was so large.

Media mogul Shannon Sharpe is real. Sharpe joins Skip Bayless’ old debate partner Stephen A. Smith as the newest co-host of ESPN’s First Take after leaving Fox Sports’ Undisputed, a debate program they co-hosted.

Speaking on NightCap, Sharpe said he was wealthy dude and people who asked him about his cheque with regards to his interview wof Katt Williams will be shocked at the amount of money he was paid.

“I just got the check. So whatever you think I made, three X it. So if you think I made 500,000, three X it. If you think I made a million, three X it. If you think I made two million, three X it.”

Even though Sharpe played in an NFL era when there was a lot less money to go around than there is now, the former Denver Bronco nonetheless garnered over $20 million in earnings over the course of his 15-year NFL career, according to Spotrac.

According to Spotrac, he made the most money of his career in 2000, taking home $5 million from the Baltimore Ravens’ $4.5 million signing bonus.

Sharpe also told his co-host, Chad Ochocinco that he even acquired a discontinued John Mayer watch just to celebrate his pay check.
