The player was one of the over 3,500 victims who could not survive after an earthquake struck in Turkey about two weeks ago leaving him under the rubble.

Currently, the mortal remains of the late Christina Atus have been received at the Kotoka International Airport, in Accra on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at 7:40 pm after he was confirmed dead in the early hours of Saturday, February 18, 2023.

A brief ceremony was performed before his remains were taken from a Turkish Airlines aircraft. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Bawumia sent condolences to the family once more as well as other bereaved parties while assuring of the government’s full involvement in the burial.
