The occasion was attended by the president, his wife, Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo, and other officials from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). The president was spotted dozing off in a video while seated next to the first lady.
In Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana celebrated its 67th Independence Day on Wednesday. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, and other diplomats were present, along with President Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast.
There was a great energy throughout the event, and the list of attendees was impressive. This comprises three of the top Senior High Schools in the Municipality in addition to nine Public and Private Basic Schools.
The recently opened 5,000-seat Koforidua Youth Resource Center served as the venue for the celebration, which has as its theme “Our Democracy Our Pride.”
Prior to the major event, Alassane Dramane Ouattara, the President of Ivory Coast, was the distinguished guest of honor, bringing much joy to the country.
The celebration, which started in the wee hours of Wednesday, included a wide range of exercises that showcased military skill and artillery firepower, such as the 21-gun salute.
On parade, men and women from basic and second cycle schools, the band, sister security services, and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) took center stage.
