Despite heavy rainfall, Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and several NPP executives demonstrated unwavering commitment as they commissioned an Astro turf in Assin North.
Undeterred by the pouring rain, they stood firm, shaking hands with footballers and delivering words of encouragement.
In a video capturing the event, the vice president, accompanied by NPP executives including Nana B, walked through the rain to interact with the footballers as part of the turf commissioning.
Dr. Bawumia, refusing to take cover under an umbrella, urged the athletes, “Give it your best,” instilling a sense of determination.
Even the newly-constructed Astro turf itself was not spared as it turned into a swimming pool, adding an unexpected twist to the occasion.
The commissioning of the Astro turf holds great significance as the Assin North constituency prepares for an eagerly anticipated by-election on June 27.
This electoral event follows a Supreme Court ruling that declared the election of James Gyakye Quayson as Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North unconstitutional.
In response to the court’s decision, both major political parties have mobilized their forces, launching vigorous campaigns to rally voters and secure victory in the upcoming by-election.
