Hip-hop/afrobeats musician Black Sherif has been adjudged overall ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). He was crowned at a ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
His hit single ‘Kweku the Traveller’ did the magic for him, having swept two top awards; Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year and Best Hip-hop Song of the Year.
He beat off stiff competition from dancehall musician Stonebwoy, rapper Sarkodie, gospel musicians Piesie Esther and Joe Mettle, and afrobeats musicians KiDi, Camidoh, and King Promise to win the coveted award.
Hiplife youngster Lasmid won the Best New Artiste of the Year after his horrible stage performance on the night.
