The debate over who wins the reggae/dancehall award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 is over.

One of the competition’s favourite Maccasio has lost his category to musician Shatta Wale.

Maccasio amassed massive votes – both online and text messages – with the hope that his hit song “Dagomba Girl” featuring Mugeez could fetch him an accolade but the award went to the “Gringo” hitmaker instead.

Shatta Wale beat off tough competition from Maccasio, Stonebwoy and Samini to win the award.

His song “Gringo” has garnered great views on YouTube and trended for weeks when it was released by the defunct Zylofon Music.

Wale also picked up the “Highlife Song of the Year” with his song, “My Level”.
