A groundbreaking partnership was established on Friday, July 19, 2024, as the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana (VTC GH) inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Centre for International Maritime Affairs, Ghana (CIMAG), and the Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies (IPLS) at a ceremony held at the CIMAG premises.
The event signified a significant step towards enhancing sustainable development and bolstering the maritime and legal educational sectors in Ghana and beyond.
Mr Anthony Yao Jim-Fugar, the Board Chairman of CIMAG, conveyed his enthusiasm and appreciation for the historic collaboration in his opening remarks.
The MoU between CIMAG and VTC GH aims to establish a strong cooperation framework to promote the activities of the Vanuatu Trade Commission in Ghana through various media platforms and public engagements. This collaboration will focus on sustainable development utilizing the AKL Lumi currency as a key driver.
H.E. Ambassador Prof. Hugh Keku Aryee highlighted the multifaceted purpose of the MoU, emphasizing the shared commitment to sustainable development and maritime sector enhancement.
The partnership between IPLS and the Vanuatu Trade Commission will support academic excellence, infrastructure development, and the training of individuals in AI. This collaboration underscores the dedication to fostering innovation, improving academic and technical training, and driving sustainable development.
Mr Albert D. Fiatui, Executive Director/CEO of CIMAG, expressed optimism about the transformative impact of the collaboration on Ghana’s Blue Economy, Africa, and the Diaspora.
The initiative aims to train a significant number of individuals in AI, including lawyers, media practitioners, paralegals, traditional chiefs, youth leaders, and students, reflecting the potential for Africans to take charge of their affairs.
Dr David King Boison, CEO of Knowledge Web Centre (KWC), highlighted the economic opportunities of AI training and emphasized the significance of practical knowledge in maximizing economic activities.
Both CIMAG and IPLS extended their gratitude to VTC GH, ADCB, and KWC for their support, marking the beginning of a new era in their respective fields.
