Rugby is in grief with the death of Wigan Warriors veteran Va’aiga Tuigamala, who was 52 years old at the time of his death.
Tuigamala joined Wigan Warriors in 1993 and quickly became a fan favorite.
His death comes just weeks after his younger sister, pastor Helen Verry, was critically hurt at a church in West Auckland and died on January 30.
Tuigamala, also known as ‘Inga,’ began his rugby union career in 1988, when he joined his hometown club Auckland and went on to make 19 appearances for New Zealand.
In 1993, he switched to rugby league and went on to become a Wigan Warriors legend in the years that followed.
With Tuigamala at the helm, they won multiple titles, including the 1994 World Club Championship.
