Kouri Darden Richins, a 33-year-old mother of three and author of a children’s book on grief, is facing charges of aggravated murder and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance after her husband, Eric Richins, was found dead from a fentanyl overdose.

The drug was allegedly slipped into his Moscow Mule drink, which was made by Kouri. Eric was 39 years old at the time of his death in March 2022.Screenshot 18 1

Kouri was arrested on May 9, 2023, and is scheduled to appear in court on May 19. According to court documents, Kouri had possession of the controlled substance on three separate occasions: January 1, February 11, and February 26, 2022.

Kouri has previously discussed the unexpected passing of her husband and how it led to the creation of her children’s book on grief. She shared on a local television show that the book aimed to help other children experiencing similar emotions and processes.

An autopsy revealed that Eric’s overdose was approximately five times the lethal dosage, and the fentanyl was illicit, not medical-grade.
