The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC) has advised the 2024 graduating class to become the source of the news and advocates for positive change in their communities.

During the second graduation ceremony, Prof Eric Opoku Mensah stressed the significance of standing out in the fast-evolving media landscape. He encouraged the graduates to strive to be creators and innovators, rather than just passive consumers of news.

“As you move forward into the next phase of your lives, remember that your education at UniMAC has not only equipped you with technical skills but also instilled values of integrity, empathy, and social responsibility,” Prof Mensah said.

He urged the graduates to use their voices, talents, and skills to advocate for meaningful change, amplify diverse perspectives, and promote dialogue and understanding. With 70% of the graduating class being female, the ceremony marked a significant milestone for UniMAC.

The ceremony exemplified the university’s dedication to nurturing a new generation of media leaders who are prepared to navigate and shape the future of the industry. Additionally, the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Osei Assibey Antwi, echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments on the importance of affirmative action and the pursuit of excellence in education.

Kofi Okyere Darko, a graduate and emerging media personality, shared his thoughts and aspirations, underscoring both the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead for the new cohort of media professionals. The event was a platform for celebration and optimism, reinforcing UniMAC’s commitment to empowering future media leaders.
