In the US, a teenage girl is accused of shooting her younger brother and father to death before dialing 911 for herself. “I just couldn’t control the urge to kill somebody,” she allegedly said to the Nevada dispatcher, according to court filings.
Mashenka Reid, 17, was discovered dead late on Friday afternoon in her Reno, Nevada, home by her father and younger brother. Afterwards, officers found her mother and sister hiding in a locked bedroom.
“I fired my father.” I gave my brother a shot. A probable cause affidavit filed in Reno Justice Court states that Reid allegedly told the 911 dispatcher, “My brother is dead.”
As reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal, neighbors also contacted 911 to report arguments and gunshots.
Her brother was “approximately a 4- or 5-year-old juvenile,” according to court filings, and was shot in the head while “lying on a couch in the living room.”
Her father was discovered by police with gunshot wounds to both his back and chest; both men were declared dead at the spot.
According to Fox News, police found a Walther PPS handgun, which is thought to have been used in the murder.
Records from the Washoe County jail, where Reid is being kept, show that she was charged as an adult with two charges of open murder and one count of attempted murder after being apprehended.
On Thursday, she is anticipated in court for a bail hearing.
