Former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive guard Uche Nwaneri passed away. He was 38.

According to the Lafayette Journal & Courier, which cited the West Lafayette Police Department and Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello, Nwaneri passed away at his wife’s home in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Friday.

According to reports, Nwaneri traveled from Georgia to see his wife on New Year’s Eve before passing out early on Friday. Around one in the morning on Friday, Costello claimed, Nwaneri’s wife discovered him unconscious in one of the bedrooms and dialed 911.

According to People, Nwaneri’s parents immigrated to America from Nigeria in 1973. When he was born in Dallas in 1984, they gave him the name Uchechukwu, which is Igbo for “God’s wish” In 2003, Nwaneri became a member of the Purdue University football team in West Lafayette.

After fighting with his teammate Ryan Noblet during practice in July 2005 and fracturing Noblet’s jaw, he was suspended for the 2005 fall semester. Nwaneri rejoined the squad in the spring of 2006, played his final season as a Boilermaker, and then the NFL came calling.

Nwaneri’s toxicology findings are still pending, but an autopsy performed on Monday indicates he died of a heart attack and found no evidence of foul play.
