Irish woman Tori Towey has been relieved of all charges and had her case closed by the police in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The 28-year-old flight attendant from Roscommon was facing charges of attempted suicide and alcohol consumption, which led to the confiscation of her passport. The good news was confirmed by the Dubai Public Prosecution, bringing joy to Tori Towey and her mother.

The case gained international attention after Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald raised concerns in the Irish lower house of parliament. McDonald highlighted the disturbing treatment Towey faced, including the destruction of her passport and a travel ban imposed on her. Fortunately, the travel ban has now been lifted, thanks to Irish Taoiseach Simon Harris’ intervention.

As Towey prepares to return home to Ireland, her family members express relief and gratitude for the support received during this challenging time. Her aunt, Ann Flynn, shared on BBC Radio that the family is eagerly awaiting her safe return and the chance to start a new chapter together.

Despite the ordeal, Towey’s resilience and positive outlook have shone through, with hopes for a smooth transition back home. The Department of Foreign Affairs is continuing to provide consular assistance to ensure her safe return. With the case against her dropped, Tori Towey can now focus on rebuilding her life and moving forward from this distressing chapter.
